The apparatus has a set of drive devices connected to a control and regulation device, and a fiber-sorting device with a rotatably feed roller (10), turning rotor (12), combining rotor (13) and a take off roller (14). Clamping devices for fiber bundles are distributed spaced apart in a region of periphery of one of the rotors (12, 13). Measured value sensors detecting machine-related and technical values relating to the fibers are connected to the control and regulation device that is capable of processing measured values and emitting electrical signals to connected elements e.g. actuators.
