The device has a take-off gripper system (4) with a take-off gripper (4.1) movable in a vertical direction. The take-off gripper circulates on an approximately circular or oval path. Lifting devices are assigned to the take-off gripper system for modification of a vertical component of the path. The device is conveyable with a sheet (5) by using a conveying system e.g. extension arm chain system (3), by a delivery pile (6). The sheet is deposited from the take-off gripper to a rear edge and retarded on the delivery pile.
