The device has a piston (3) loadable with a hydraulic force and movable along an adjusting direction, where the piston has a piston surface. A cylinder (41) has a control pressure chamber (6) that is connected with a tank volume (24) and a pressure medium source (59) over respective valves (15, 16) e.g. 2/2-way valves, by using a pressure medium line (9). A connection line is branched from the pressure medium line and connected with a control pressure chamber of another cylinder (42) over a delay unit, where a hydraulic pump is designed as the pressure medium source. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a hood of a cabriolet comprising an electro-hydraulic system (2) a method for operating a hood of a cabriolet by using an electro-hydraulic system.
