The device has a retainer (27) formed on an upper side of a base section (15) between a connecting section (17) and a height compensation section (19). Two covers (21, 23) are guided into the retainer in a connected condition. The cover (21) guided over the height compensation section is fastened to the upper side of the base section in the retainer. The cover (23) guided over the connecting section and fastened to a counter profile (13) is reverted inwardly such that a base profile (11) and the counter profile are concealed on a visible side by the covers (21, 23) and a seam (29) is formed.
