The method involves continuously detecting position information regarding a position of movable units e.g. cabriolet folding top (12) and hat rack (14). One movable unit is placed for a majority of movement conditions, where the unit leads movement conditions of another unit to an unwanted approximation or collision of the units. A movement of the former unit is stopped, before achieving an approximation or collision-endangered movement condition when the latter unit is present in an approximation or collision-endangered movement condition. An independent claim is also included for a cabriolet folding top-control device comprising a functional unit for co-ordination of a course of motion of a cabriolet folding top with a course of motion of a hat rack during a movement of the cabriolet folding top.
