The box (1) has a supporting plate (2) arranged in a housing, and an adjustable and/or rotatable gear shift rod (3) mounted in or at the supporting plate. One of two selectable gears is selected by a gearshift lever, where the gearshift lever is connected with the gear shift rod or is hydraulically actuated. A stop element (5) is arranged at the supporting plate, at which the gear shift rod lies in preset shifting positions. A position transmitter e.g. magnet, is arranged at the gear shift rod, and a position sensor e.g. coil, is arranged at the supporting plate or at the housing.
