The unit (1) has a bar-shaped extension element (2) for producing a temperature-dependent activation channel (dX), where a longitudinal end (21) of the extension element is fastened to a current guiding area (9) of a switchgear (8). A rotatable or bendable activation lever (7) is attached to the switchgear, where the extension element is mechanically connected to the activation lever such that a comparatively small temperature-dependent length variation (dL) of the extension element is transferred to the activation channel. An independent claim is also included for a switchgear comprising a latch.
