The device comprises a transfer device (8) provided for a replaceable doctor blade unit (4), a platform, and an electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic actuator for motor movement. The doctor blade unit has a doctor blade element e.g. doctor blade or a doctor blade bar (3a) incorporated into a doctor blade bed (3). The transfer device is pivotable around a rotating axis, which runs in a machine transverse direction, and has a holding device (2) for receiving and holding the doctor blade unit at its outer circumference. The transfer device is a rotatably mounted doctor blade supporting beam. The doctor blade unit is pivotable between an operation position and a receiving position and/or a delivery position. The platform is provided for delivering the blade unit to the holding device of the supporting beam and/or to the transfer device, is formed as a slide and is dischargeable with a tripping gear. The transfer device, the pivoting lever and/or the platform are manually or motorically movable in a longitudinal direction of the machine. A clamping device is intended for holding the replaceable blade unit to the delivery- and/or receiving position and/or during transferring. Claws or strips are provided as the clamping device and are pneumatically to be opened or closed. A negative-pressure element is provided with a suction opening for the holding device and/or the clamping device. A drive is pivotably formed at a front side end of the blade bar during the use of the blade unit having the rotationally driven doctor blade bar.
