The method involves connecting a pump impeller in the closed condition with a turbine of a hydrodynamic torque converter in a rotating manner by a converter lockup clutch. A filling time and filling pressure are determined, while a speed regulation or revolution speed gradient is detected at the turbine wheel. The pump impeller is propelled by a driving motor. The turbine wheel is connected with a rotating drive by a clutch.
