The sensor has a vibration producing element (5) arranged in or at a housing (1) for producing ultrasonic vibrations, where the vibration producing element emits vibrations in a propagation medium such as air, that surrounds the housing. An adjustment element (9) adjusts the impedance of the vibration producing element to the impedance of the propagation medium, where the adjustment element is formed as a part of the housing. The vibration producing element is fastened on a metal part (2) by an electrically conductive adhesive (3).
