The method involves designing filter elements according to spectral filtering such that the former filter element filters a radiation of a radiation source in a spectral region where presence or concentration of a gas is detected. The latter filter element filters a radiation of a radiation source in the spectral region where presence or concentration of another gas is detected. An independent claim is included for a sensor device for detection of gas concentrations.
