The knife holder (1) has a knife axle (6) arranged at an advancing device (3), and a knife head (7) rotatably connected with the knife axle. A concentric annular gap is formed between the knife axle and the knife head. A flexible unit with a detention-firm connection to the knife axle and the knife head is arranged in the annular gap. The knife head springily pushes away on the detention-firm connection. The knife head has a flange that is rotatably connected with the knife axle, and a unit for pivotable mounting of a knife support is provided on the flange.
