A method (M1) for the production of organic compositions (I) containing a functional component selected from thermoplastic polymers, enzymes, setting agents, paraffins, oils, dyes and hair- or skin-care substances, involves preparing a n-nonyl ester (II) as additive (by reacting a n-nonyl alcohol component with a suitable co-reactant), preparing the functional component and optionally other additive(s) and then mixing these together. Independent claims are also included for (1) a method (M2) for the production of formed products by making (I) as above, heating to the glass transition point (Tg) of the thermoplastic polymer or above and forming the heated composition (2) a method (M3) for the production of packed goods by preparing a product and a formed body as above and then enclosing the product in the body (3) a method (M4) for coating substances which can be attacked by organisms, by enveloping the substance at least partly in (II) (4) a method (M5) for cleaning drill holes, drills or drillings by treating the surface with a cleaning material containing (II) and then optionally washing with water (5) a method (M6) for making drill holes by drilling a hole in the ground with a rod-driven drill head, inserting a pipe liner, injecting cement into the space between the liner and the sides of the hole, optionally inserting a feed pipe into the liner and optionally injecting a sealing fluid into the space between the feed pipe and the liner, in which the surfaces of the hole, the pipe, the drilling rod or the drill head are treated with a cleaning material containing (II) (6) a method (M7) for the production of oil or gas by performing M6 as above and then passing oil or gas through the hole and refining it, in which the surfaces listed in M6 are treated with a cleaning material or composition containing (II) (7) a method (M8) for making drill holes in which a composition containing (II) is pumped through a drill hole as oil well fluid (8) a method (M9) for the production of oil or gas by making a water-in-oil emulsion containing (II), drilling a hole in the ground, passing a composition containing (II) into the hole (preferably circulating it), passing oil or gas from the ground through the hole and optionally purifying or refining it .
