The module (8) has a sensor layer (10) made of a semiconductor direct converter material such as Cadmium telluride, and a read-out chip (14) arranged below the sensor layer. An intermediate substrate (12) is arranged between the sensor layer and the read-out chip, and is provided for transmission of signal from the sensor layer to the read-out chip. Soldered connections (18a) are produced between pixel contacts (20) and input contacts (22). The substrate is made of a ceramic material and a doped semiconductor material, and has a larger surface than the layer and the chip. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling an X-ray detector.
