The method involves changing a rotary motion into a linear motion using a transmission unit (20), where an electric motor (41) is rotatably connected with the transmission unit. A controller (11) is connected with the motor using an electrical connection (14). A motor data storage unit (45) is provided in a linear moving apparatus (10), where the storage unit is readable by the controller. Information is stored in the storage unit using the transmission unit, where the information is red by the controller when commissioning the moving apparatus. The motor data storage unit is formed from two dimensional bar code or radio frequency identification tag. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a linear moving apparatus.
