The vehicle seat (1) has a seat surface (2) and a backrest (3) with a supporting surface. The backrest is provided with hinged walls in an area of the supporting surface. The two lateral walls are linked to a rear side of a front wall (7). The front wall, particularly perpendicular to a progression of the backrest is extendable from front to form a storage compartment (8). The front wall forms a flat area (4) of the supporting surface of the backrest.
