The device has an adjustment element i.e. volume adjuster (10), moving from a position into another position. An operating element i.e. axially movable adjusting wheel (13), is laid out in an operating position for moving the adjustment element. The operating element is held by a mechanical pre-loading in an idle position in which the operating element does not stand in contact with the adjustment element, and is movable by overcoming the pre-loading in the operating position in which the operating element stands in contact with the adjustment element. An independent claim is also included for a hearing device comprising a signal processing device.
