The method involves providing a winding shaft unit, to which a rotatably supported winding shaft with a roller blind, a mounting unit for rotatably mounting the winding shaft and a pretensioning unit for pretensioning the winding shaft are attached. The roller blind is provided with a tension rod at its edge. A pair of guide rail units and the winding shaft are mounted in a motor vehicle i.e. passenger car. The roller blind is moved against an impact of the pretensioning unit, and the tension rod is coupled with drive transmission devices at both ends.
