The adjuster has a stator (1) driven by a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, and a rotor (2) connected with a cam shaft. Pivotable levers (3a, 3b) are pivotably supported at the rotor or the stator in pivot bearings (4a, 4b) and include toothing (5a, 5b) that engages in the toothing of stator or rotor. A relative rotary position of the rotor is changed while pivoting the levers. The pivoting levers are arranged in a hollow space of the stator, and the hollow space is divided into two operating chambers (A1, A2, B1, B2).
