The dryer has a sliding joint (2) arranged at a mast (1) in a movable manner, and a retaining star (3) arranged at or in the proximity of upper ends of the mast. The retaining star has pivotable supporting arms (5) for supporting bearing arms (4) of the sliding joint, where an end of the supporting arms is turned away from the retaining star and is connected to the bearing arms in a pivotable manner. An electrical drive (6) i.e. motor, opens the rotary clothes dryer and works directly or indirectly on the sliding joint or a lower portion of the bearing arms proximate to the sliding joint.
