The method involves presetting movement reference values to an electric drive (2) by a control unit (6). A movement-actual value of the electric drive or a machine driven by the electric drive is constantly determined based on state variables, where the movement-actual value is mechanically produced by the drive. The preset movement reference values are determined by considering the mechanical movement-actual value, where the mechanical movement actual value is an acceleration value and is delivered to the control device.
