The system (1) has a control mechanism (5) and a driver assistance system (4) for execution of driving maneuver, where the system is designed in such a manner that a manual input releases the execution of the driving maneuver, and implements the driving maneuver under consideration of situative boundary conditions. The system interprets the manual input as driver intention, which is communicated to the system that is temporally decoupled by the release of the driving maneuver ahead-lying in any spatial and/or temporal distance. An independent claim is also included for a method for relieving a driver during operation of a motor vehicle.
