The tool for the separation of workpieces (8) and procedure for its production, comprise cutting elements (3, 6), which are constructed by function separation between a low loaded tool base body material and a high grade material in the area of high load in cutting process and high requirement by the wear resistance in cutting edges- and/or cutting strip area. The tool base body material consists of cast iron material and the area of cutting edges and/or cutting strip consists of steel material produced by powder metallurgy method. The tool for the separation of workpieces (8) and procedure for its production, comprise cutting elements (3, 6), which are constructed by function separation between a low loaded tool base body material and a high grade material in the area of high load in cutting process and high requirement by the wear resistance in cutting edges- and/or cutting strip area. The tool base body material consists of cast iron material and the area of cutting edges and/or cutting strip consists of steel material produced by powder metallurgy method. In the joining zone between the tool base body material and the steel material in the cutting edges and/or cutting strip area, a firmly bonded connection exists along the joint contact surface. The connection is produced by connection mold through recasting and/or casting of the steel produced by powder metallurgy method, with a molten cast iron alloy. The steel is available in initial condition before the connection mold both in untempered and also in tempered condition. The heat input is used out of the casting melt in the steel during casting and/or solidification process for pre-heating the cutting edges and/or cutting strip, which supports the formation of the firmly bonded connection zone. The cutting element is formed as inserts/insets in a forming tool.
