The mask (1) for mounting on a motor-block during thermal coating of a cylinder bore subjected in the motor-block by a rotatable coating head (4), comprises a fixed outer part (2) and a rotatable inner part (3). The inner part and the coating head are rotatable with same angular speed. The inner part is formed as a one-way insert or for the reception of the one-way insert, which is formed as a sheet-metal form part. The mask is selected on a diameter of the cylinder bore to be coated. The outer part has a rotatable bearing surface for bearing at a cylinder cover surface. The mask (1) for mounting on a motor-block during thermal coating of a cylinder bore subjected in the motor-block by a rotatable coating head (4), comprises a fixed outer part (2) and a rotatable inner part (3). The inner part and the coating head are rotatable with same angular speed. The inner part is formed as a one-way insert or for the reception of the one-way insert, which is formed as a sheet-metal form part. The mask is selected on a diameter of the cylinder bore to be coated. The outer part has a rotatable bearing surface for bearing at a cylinder cover surface in an area spaced from the cylinder bore. A rotating cavity is intended within the bearing surface and is limited towards the interior through a rotating lip that is intended in the mask overlying from the cylinder cover surface and surrounds a through opening, whose diameter maximally corresponds to a diameter of the cylinder bore. A further one-way insert usable in the cavity covers a part exposed by the coating material (5) from the interior surface of the cavity, all interior surfaces of the cavity and under side of the lip. A rotatable collecting area is intended for the reception of the coating material passing during the coating process at an interior area of the inner part or the insert. The interior area of the inner part or the one-way insert is formed essentially cylindrical and projects itself to the cylinder bore. The interior area of the inner part is equipped with a smooth surface or a non-stick coating.
