The fuel pressure control device has an idle running stop system which controls an automatic stop and an automatic restart of a direct injection engine. A pressure reduction mechanism is provided to reduce a fuel pressure in a high pressure fuel system. The high pressure fuel system supplies high pressure fuel of a high-pressure pump (14) to a fuel injector (34). An independent claim is included for a high-pressure pump control device for an internal combustion engine.
