The system has a hearing device (1) and an external unit (10), where a test signal (21) is released in a preferred direction by a broadband transmitting antenna (8) of the hearing device. The test signal is evaluated by the external unit for determining the preferred direction, where the external unit has a set of receiving antennas (13). The hearing device includes a receiving antenna (6) to receive radio signals (20) output from the external unit, where the receiving antenna and the transmitting antenna exhibit same preferred direction. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for determining an optimal transmission adjustment of radio communication between an external unit and a hearing device (2) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for determining optimal transmission adjustment of radio communication.
