The system has a monitoring device (1) supported in body of a patient for producing ECG data for the heart activity of the patient and for wireless transmission of the data to a central receiver station (2) i.e. personal computer. The monitoring device is provided for transmitting the data over a cellular radio network. The monitoring device has a pair of electrodes i.e. active sensors, arranged opposite to each other with respect to chest bone of the patient. Transmission devices (9) connected with an evaluator (8) are combined together in a component (10).
