X-ray imaging system i.e. computer tomography system, has evaluation unit upgrading grey tone images before mathematical filtering, and further performs filtering based on upgraded grey tone images

The system has an X-ray flat detector (D) rotatable around a common rotation axis (A), and an evaluation unit for performing mathematical filtering and three-dimensional rear projection, based on grey tone images of an object i.e. patient, to prepare a three-dimensional data set. Grey tones are assigned to volume elements by the set. The evaluation unit upgrades the images before filtering such that the upgraded images cover points. The points correspond to detector elements of the upgraded flat detector, and the evaluation unit further performs filtering based on the upgraded images. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for receiving three dimensional reconstruction of an object (2) a data medium with a software code for executing a method for receiving three dimensional reconstruction of an object (3) a device comprising a unit for upgrading two dimensional X-ray image data set.
