The device (10) has a tension element (20) connected to a belt buckle (45) or a belt end fitting at an end (30) of the element and connected indirectly or directly by a tension drive (50) of the device at another end of the element, where movement of the belt buckle and/or the belt end fitting is decelerated. A shock absorber bushing (60) is provided for passing the element. The bushing is press opened on a stop (70) during a tensioning process. The bushing is moved along with the element during the tensioning process, and impacts at the stop, where the bushing comprises a recess. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a tensioning device for tensioning a safety belt.
