Methods and apparatus for detecting brand exposure in media streams and defining areas of interest in associated video frames include: An example method disclosed herein for determining brand exposures in a media stream includes determining whether a media stream corresponding to the media content comprises a detected scene with a reference scene an identification of an expected area of interest in the detected scene based on information describing the reference scene when it is determined that the detected scene matches the reference scene and the reference scene is not specified as a scene of no interest, and a determination of whether a reference mark identifier associated with the reference scene is included in the expected range of interest identified in the detected scene.
