Method for recognizing unavoidable collisions of motor vehicle with e.g. pedestrian, involves meeting decision tree final decision during processing of each tree to output collision alarm, and recognizing collision based on decision
The method involves detecting and/or receiving status data from several data sources, and evaluating the status data based on a decision structure. The structure comprising decision trees (1) detects or receives status information of each data source of each object. One of the trees, which is assigned to each data source and the corresponding object, is processed temporally parallel to the remaining trees. A decision tree final decision is met during processing of each tree to output a collision alarm (13). Collision is recognized based on the final decision. An independent claim is also included for a device for recognizing unavoidable collisions with objects in the environment of a vehicle.
