The drying cylinder (10) has a pipe nozzle (18) for feeding steam into a hollow cylinder (15). Another pipe nozzle (19) discharges condensate developed from the steam. A collecting unit (20) collects the condensate from an inner surface of the hollow cylinder. Limiting constructions (23) extend radially inwards from the inner surface of the hollow cylinder for limiting condensate discharging areas (24) and for limiting the condensate flow from the inner surface of the hollow cylinder into the discharging areas. The collecting unit is arranged in the discharging areas. An independent claim is also included for a method for drying fibrous material web in a fiber web machine.
