The method involves aligning and mounting a number of clutch disks such as steel disks (10-16), with respective clutch broadsides that are to be assigned to each other. Individual clutch disks are aligned depending on surface geometry of the clutch broadsides that are assigned to each other and/or depending on a distance of the clutch broadsides that are assigned to each other. A thickness of the clutch disks is measured before mounting, and a planarity of the clutch broadsides is measured before mounting.
