PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse wave detecting apparatus and a pulse wave detecting method, capable of precisely detecting pulse waves.;SOLUTION: The pulse wave detecting apparatus comprises a semiconductive pressure sensor 19 with a plurality of sensor elements disposed on the measuring face, a pressure cuff 18 for crossing the semiconductive pressure sensor 19 on an artery of a living body and pressing the artery, a multiplexer 20 for selecting the pressure signal from a specified sensor element among pressure signals from the plurality of sensor elements, and a characteristic variable filter 22 capable of changing the value of the cutoff frequency according to the specification. A CPU 11 shifts the value of the cutoff frequency in the characteristic variable filter 22 in a case where the plurality of pressure signals obtained from the plurality of sensor elements are shifted one after another by the multiplexer 20 to be outputted for specifying the sensor element for the pulse wave detection, or in a case where pulse waves are detected by the specified sensor element.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
