The method involves releasably mounting fixture devices (7) at beams (5), and arranging a vehicle, which is to be repaired or inspected in a position above a leveling bench. The fixture devices are aligned with respect to the vehicle by continuously moving the beams and an elongated support structure (3) as a single unit in a horizontal plane such that the fixture devices define certain specific reference points of the vehicle. The beams or the support structure are releasably fastened to the leveling bench for locking the beams and the support structure to the bench in an aligned position. An independent claim is also included for a leveling bench arrangement.
