A procedure is described by means of which it is possible to study and resolve environmental problems, such as pollution or noise generation, by analogy with general field theory, electromagnetic fields in particular. The procedure allows identifying the elements configuring the environment, classifying them as sources or sinks according to the type of alteration they cause, and defining a variable the measurement of which allows evaluating the changes that may occur. The measured values of the variable allow the establishment of a "map" of effects induced by the active elements of the system, and the subsequent determination of a function or law of space alteration useful for the study or even the prediction of the spatial alteration derived from the initial active element configuration, or of any other arrangement with regard to number, charge, nature (sources or sinks) and spatial arrangement of the active elements.
