A method for immunologically assaying an antigen relating to mental stress disorders in a human body fluid by using an antibody against a protein which relates to mental stress and has the following properties or a fragment thereof: (1) molecular weight: about 14 kDa (determined by SDS-PAGE); and (2) N-terminal partial sequence: represented by SEQ ID NO: 1; and a kit for the diagnosis of mental stress disorders which contains the above antibody or fragment thereof are provided to develop a method which makes it possible to easily predict or judge the accumulation of stress and to apply this method to the diagnosis of mental stress disorders.
