The present invention relates to a process for the reinforcement of a steel component which is rich in carbon, comprising a step of carbonitridation, at least two successive steps for the transformation of austenite into martensite, and a step of embrittlement of the part. The present invention also relates to a reinforced piece according to this process, and a rolling bearing, at least one constituent element is such a piece.
