The method involves associating a part of data transmitting network to each of the nodes of the data transmitting network. A event origin node is determined from values of a variable for the part of the network, where the variable is a function of number of alert nodes of a group alert nodes towards which a data flow leaving the node exists. The nodes of the network are data servers adapted to receive and transmit data e.g. digital file.
