The seat has a leg assembly (12) mounted on a chassis of a motor vehicle, and an understructure connected to the assembly. A backrest (5) is rotatively mounted with respect to a base (4), and a guide rail (8) includes a profile fixed to the understructure and another profile fixed to the base. The guide rail guides the base by translation with respect to the understructure along a longitudinal direction of sliding. A locking system authorizes a relative displacement of the base and the understructure along a sliding direction during retraction of the seat in a storage tank (2).
