The invention relates to a method for decoding a signal representative of an image sequence. According to the invention, such a method comprises the following steps: extraction of said motion tube signal, each of said tubes being defined by minus the following information: - a block of reference pixels comprising reference texture information - tube start and end of tube instants - transition information - processing of said transition information - combination of information associated with the current blocks of at least two of said tubes overlapping in an overlapping area of said current image.
