Air separation method for producing pure oxygen, involves cooling air at pressure to form reheated nitrogen, sending cooled air to gas turbine to form released nitrogen flow, and sending air to thermokinetic compressor
The method involves sending a part of air with pressure to a distillation process, where the part of the air is suppressed into another part of the air in an adiabatic booster pump (18). The suppressed air (16) is cooled in a heat exchanger (15), and is separated by cryogenic distillation to form flow of oxygen (25) and nitrogen (23). The flow of the nitrogen is reheated in the exchanger, where the air is cooled at the former pressure to form the reheated nitrogen. The air is sent to a gas turbine (27) to form the released nitrogen flow, and is sent to a thermokinetic compressor (29). An independent claim is also included for an apparatus for separating air.
