The master cylinder has a sealing cup (133) of U-section held in an annular groove (132) of an inner circumferential wall (106) of a cylinder. A primary piston (110) is placed in a perforated body and slides in the body. The piston includes an outer circumferential wall (112) sliding against the cup. The cup has an annular inner lip (171) at the contact of the wall (112) of the piston. The wall (112) of the piston includes an undercut (165) forming a stop for the lip such that the piston is blocked in the cylinder when the cylinder is found in a pre-mounting position. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a master cylinder.
