The sequential biological reactor for treating sludge activated by industrial or urban wastewater, comprises a basin (1) having a bottom slab and side walls (3) that are cylindrical or rectangular, an inlet equipped with a selector that determines a path of baffle in contact with the effluent to be treated and a part of recirculated sludge, a unit (6) for evacuating the treated water from upper part of the basin, an outlet (7) for evacuating the sludge in excess from bottom of the basin, and a chamber formed by two partitions (14, 15) extending between a tank wall and side walls. The sequential biological reactor for treating sludge activated by industrial or urban wastewater, comprises a basin (1) having a bottom slab and side walls (3) that are cylindrical or rectangular, an inlet equipped with a selector that determines a path of baffle in contact with the effluent to be treated and a part of recirculated sludge, a unit (6) for evacuating the treated water from upper part of the basin, an outlet (7) for evacuating the sludge in excess from bottom of the basin, and a chamber formed by two partitions (14, 15) extending between a tank wall and side walls of the basin. The selector comprises a tank (8) disposed in the basin through a distance of the side walls. The tank is divided into four sectors. The outlet of one sector, which is the inlet of the following sector is alternatively low or high. The outlet of the tank is obligatorily high. Lower edge of the partition is present through a distance of the bottom slab, and defines two lower openings for the passage of effluent in the basin. The tank forming the selector is cylindrical with vertical generator, fixed on the bottom slab of the basin, and made of concrete, metal and plastic. The supply for the first sector of the tank is high for even number of sectors and low for odd number of sectors. The chamber is connected to an external surface of the selector at walls of the basin, and has a cross-section that is equal to the each sector of the selector. The partitions are constituted by plates that are made of plastic or wood and mounted in grooves or vertical slides located on the respective walls of the basin. Axis for the supply of the chamber is 45[deg] , which is perpendicular to the wall of the tank. A partial equilibrium hole towards the exterior is provided in lower part of the wall of the selector.
