The equipment i.e. armrest (1), has a bearing arm (3) carried by a support arm (4) that includes a joint (5) pivoting around a fixed horizontal axle (6) for permitting the arm (3) to pass from deployed position to a retracted position. The bearing arm is horizontal and parallel to a longitudinal direction of the vehicle in the deployed position. The axle is placed laterally under the base of a seat (2) such that the bearing arm and the support arm are placed under the seat in the retracted position. The horizontal axle is placed proximate to the rear of the base.
