The method involves taking a portion of air in downstream of a compressor (4) for injecting the portion of air in upstream of the compressor to control an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) rate by recirculation of a quantity of air around the compressor. The quantity of the air is adapted based on a law proportional to a difference of driving pressure at terminals of a supercharged engine, or adapted by controlling a degree of opening of a valve e.g. active recirculation valve, in a recirculation duct using an engine control unit (14).
