The method involves detecting an object (4) presented in an observation zone (Z) of a mobile platform i.e. ground combat vehicle (1), and locating the object with respect to the mobile platform from location coordinates of the platform. The location coordinates are provided by a positioning unit and a triangulation operation that permits to assign location information to the object such that geographical coordinates are assigned to the object or to an area (Z) of a land surrounding the object. An independent claim is also included for a device for observing and detecting of a moving target presented in an observation zone for a mobile platform.
