The device (5) has a camera (8) positioned on an upper end of a case (6) and connected to an image processing processor i.e. digital signal processor, that processes images transmitted by the camera. Spherical or hemispherical shaped color markers (12) are positioned on a member of user. A monitoring unit formed of coordinates restoring unit and trajectory reconstruction unit, monitors a trajectory of one of the markers and a comparison unit compares the trajectory of marker with a preset trajectory. The camera has a complementary MOS sensor with a signal processing module. An independent claim is also included for a gesture recognition method for capturing a series of images.
