The method involves closing inlet and exhaust valves during compression phase, and injecting and combusting fuel in an engine during injection and combustion phases. The exhaust valve is opened and gas is expelled towards a turbocharger until cylinder pressure (Pc) remains higher than pressure in upstream of the turbocharger during exhaust phase. The gas is expelled towards the turbocharger until the cylinder pressure remains lower than the pressure in upstream of the turbocharger and equal to inlet pressure during direct exhaust phase. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a two stroke cycle engine.
