The system has an electronic control unit (4) connected to a position sensor (5) of a brake pedal and a position sensor (6) of an accelerator pedal. A processing unit (12) calculates deceleration control limiting acceleration in slope of a motor vehicle (1). A regulator (13) of the electronic control unit regulates the acceleration in a closed loop on an acceleration set-point value issued from regulation activation and deactivation units and a correction unit. A control unit (15) of the electronic control unit applies the deceleration control to a deceleration actuator. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling acceleration of a motor vehicle with an uncoupled braking system.
